MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Education (DepEd) has shared that the next school year (2023-2024) will begin on August 29, according to a recent announcement.

Private schools have some flexibility and can start their classes anytime between the first Monday of June and the end of August.

This decision comes after lots of heavy rain and bad weather in many parts of the country.

DepEd spokesperson Michael Poa also said that if regular classes can’t happen because of bad weather, students won’t need to attend classes online.

“The rule is, if in-person classes are stopped, online classes are also stopped,” explained Poa.
