Reelectionist municipal Mayor converts campaign materials into school bags

DAVAO CITY (May 18) — Reelectionist Mayor Junaflor Cerilles of Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur, has launched a project of converting election materials and convert the same into school bags.

On May 15, Cerilles, on her facebook account called on volunteers to help in collection election materials “Good morning sa tanan taga Dumalinao! I am looking for volunteers Na makatabang pull out sa tanan campaign materials. Ato ni hiposon bag o kini magkatag ana dalan ug makabara sa mga canal. We will recycle kadto mga baga pa ug e shred ang mga nipis .”

(Good morning residents of Dumanilao, I am looking for volunteers who can help pull out all campaign materials, We will gather these before it will scatter along the roads and will clog the canals. We will recyle the thick one’s and shred the thin”) .

On May 16, she announced “Our 44 volunteers collected 631 pcs campaign materials from plastic and 658 pcs. tarpaulin on the first day, and I expect more on the next few days. A lot of plastic wastes we left behind after the election!”

She admitted ” I am guilty of this act since I also contributed some. I hope next time COMELEC will set specific areas where all candidates can post their posters.

To the Comelec, Cerilles suggest “The policy given that we have only few recycling plant that will recycle all these campaign materials. For now, my team will make these tarpaulins to school bags for children instead of the usual reusable grocery bags we give away. ????????.”

She thank the volunteers for helping her in the collection and soon they will recyle the collected waste.

She thanks the people “Daghan Salamat kaninyo tanan!”

Cerilles led “Oplan Baklas” and removed the campaign materials from the different barangays in that town.-ezc/newsline.ph
