MANILA (December 22) — Filipinos should expect more rain as three weather systems continue to affect large parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Monday.

In its 4 a.m. advisory, PAGASA reported that a shear line is bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Rizal, and Quezon. Metro Manila and the rest of Central Luzon may also experience isolated rain showers due to the same weather system.

Meanwhile, easterlies are affecting much of the Visayas and southern Luzon, bringing scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Visayas, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte. Other parts of the country may also see brief rain showers caused by these warm winds from the Pacific.

In northern areas, the northeast monsoon or “amihan” continues to influence the weather, bringing rainy conditions over Ilocos Norte, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and the Cordillera Administrative Region. The rest of the Ilocos Region may see isolated rains from the amihan as well.

PAGASA also warned of hazardous sea conditions. Extreme Northern Luzon may experience strong to gale-force northeast winds, with rough to very rough seas. Central Luzon and the rest of Northern Luzon will have moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters.

Elsewhere in the country, winds will be light to moderate, with generally slight to moderate sea conditions.

Weather officials advised the public, especially those in flood- and landslide-prone areas and those planning sea travel, to stay alert for updated advisories as these weather systems persist.
