DAVAO CITY — Two Filipino transgenders who were figured in a brawl with fellow Thai transgenders in a brawl in a red light district of Bangkok will be deported after they will pay the fine.
Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo De Vega in an interview over DZMM TeleRadyo said the two transgenders will pay the fine and will later be deported so they won’t be detained.
“Nagbubugbugan eh,Ang gagawin na lang, ipapabayad ng piyansa o fine ‘yung mga assailant, ‘yung mga Filipino transgender. Dalawa silang kinasuhan, pay fine tapos i-deport na lang. At staka ‘Yung ibang Pilipinong transgender na nasa Bangkok ay nagsisi-uwian na kasi mainit eh. Kasi binabantaan sila ng mga Thai transgender,” he said during the interview with Noli de Castro.
“The assailants were beaten, the only thing to do is make the assailants, the Filipino transgenders, pay bail or fine. Both of them were charged, paid a fine, and then just deported. And ‘The other transgender Filipinos in Bangkok are going home because it’s hot. Because Thai transgenders are threatening them
While Good Morning Thailand News reported that the tension started on March 5, involving the assault and robbery of a Thai transgender by around 20 Filipino transgenders which led the Thai group to demand justice.
The situation escalated as hundreds of Thai individuals gathered in front of the hotel shouting nationalist slogans and demanding the Filipinos to leave.
The situation led to chaos as a handful was injured, and one Filipino transgender was severely wounded and police intervened and brought them to a police station. Several detained.
The recent incident, according to de Vega created a notion that a transgender war is in the offing.
With the recent incident, De Vega called on the Filipinos abroad “Nanawagan ako sa ating mga kababayan, kung nasa abroad tayo, huwag tayong makipag-away kasi teritoryo nila yan.”
“I am calling on our compatriots, if we are abroad, let’s not fight because it is their territory,” the incident will tarnish the good image of the Filipinos, De Vega added.
