DAVAO CITY (October 28)– Former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) and senatorial aspirant Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go will look into the controversial Continuing Professional Development (CPD) law and seek higher pay for nurses and teachers as he promised to uplift the plight of workers.
“We will be looking into amending the current Continuing Professional Development Law that has caused burden to our professionals,” Go said in his speech at the 18TH National PESO Congress at the SMX Convention Center in Davao City on Friday, 26 October.
“More than anything, as part of our mandate to provide Filipinos with proper employment and remuneration, I am with the Filipino nation in striving for higher pay for our professionals such as nurses and teachers,” he added.
Go also said he wants to address the high inflation so it will not worsen and burden the people as well as promote better healthcare through the enactment of the Universal Healthcare Law and establishment of Malasakit Centers all over the country.
The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop where the sick and their caregivers can easily get financial assistance for their medical care and free medicines. The center is manned by officers from different government agencies that provide financial support to indigent patients such as the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, Department of Health and PhilHealth.
So far, Go has helped put up 15 Malasakit Centers nationwide.
“These steps I am addressing are things that are in line with DoLE (Department of Labor and Employment) and PESO’s (Public Employment Service Offices) mission not just to provide employment but, a better working environment and overall, quality of living for every Filipino,” Go said.
He thanked the men and women of DoLE and PESO for holding the 18th National PESO Congress helping Filipinos gain proper and better employment by referring them to potential employers in the market.
