DAVAO CITY –— When business was brisk, Davao event organizer Ish Montegro book at least 25 wedding gowns a month serving at least two wedding services but these ended when the coronavirus pandemic hit Davao region and the entire world.

Montenegro is the founder of Davao Events Alliance Reform & owner of Krishael’s Events & Concepts has been in the business during the last two years but she still considers herself a newbie in her world.

Coping is a challenge nowadays since the health protocol is stiff while the government temporarily suspends mass gatherings and many weddings postponed as church service is also on hold to avoid the spread of the deadly virus.

“It is not easy for everyone but we are trying to be strong and optimistic. The industry is down but we have to accept and support the government in fighting this pandemic. As a founder of Davao Events Alliance Reform, I am extending help in my own little way to some Davao Events Suppliers by sharing some goods and have allowed loan assistance to our members,” she told NewsLine.

Like everyone else, she felt boredom is killing everyone, a reason she found a way and organized an event for herself and her husband by showcasing their wedding gown collections in doing household chores.

In a Facebook post, Ish wore a bridal gown while cleaning her yard and later on wash clothes at the pavement of their house just beside a street in their village.

By her background, it showed Ish as among those we call as economically able but she dared to do the things to ease the boredom of people who have been compelled to stay at home due to the Enhanced Community Quarantine (EQC), a reality in the city which will hopefully end by May 15.

Ish purposely showcased her gown while doing the girl thing back home saying “I just want to tell everyone to stay healthy and think positively. We can get thru with this in due time. We should continue to support each other, even in prayers and sharing positivity. I also invite everyone to give continuous support to our government in this battle”.

Her post has been generating shares and most of those who viewed her post admired her courage to inspire people who feel boredom as their new normal back home.-Editha Z. Caduaya
